Overview

301 is a bridge program for newly admitted to business students who have been selected to be a part of the Business Emerging Leaders (BEL) Scholarship Program. The BEL Program is designed for promising students who come from diverse backgrounds and have strong academic records and demonstrated leadership skills. 301 is a three-week, residential experience for a student to get an early start on their college careers.

Responsibilities:

The BEL Program Instructors will deliver curriculum for one of the following courses: Business Analytics or Math. The Instructor will assist with curriculum development, participate in planning meetings and facilitate the delivery of content for BEL participants. The following are examples of some the Instructors responsibilities:

  • Work closely with BEL Program staff to ensure high-quality experience with respect to course content and curriculum
  • Actively participate in the curriculum development process
  • Maintain and develop communication with students and other staff regarding progress of BEL participants
  • Provide a safe and inclusive environment that promotes diversity and supports learning
  • Accompany BEL participants on career-focused excursions and draw connections between curricular content and applied experiences
  • Anticipate, understand, and address the academic/social needs and interests of students
  • Participate in regular staff meetings
  • Complete student evaluation materials during the final days of the program

Qualifications:

Required:

  • At least 1-3 years of professional experience working with high school and/or college students in an academic setting.
  • Professional experience teaching business or related subject at the high school level

Preferred:

  • Experience working with talented/gifted students to plan and modify curriculum to the needs of the students.
  • Experience or strong desire to work with students from diverse backgrounds (cultural, economic, ethnic and regional backgrounds)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, group facilitation, listening and/or public speaking skills and adaptive.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
