Overview

Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Accounting to begin August 2024. Reporting to the Business Department, responsibilities include classroom teaching of introductory, intermediate, and management accounting courses. The accounting instructor will also be expected to teach the Spreadsheet Applications course and must exhibit proficient Excel skills. The most competitive applicants will be able to support a future Business Analytics program. Courses may be delivered in online or hybrid formats, and successful applicants must be able to navigate the online learning management system. Successful candidates will teach 15 contact hours per semester with 30 credits total in the academic year, in addition to student advising, assessment activities, and committee work. Faculty are expected to advance the College’s focus on student success and completion and will work closely with the College’s leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

Required: Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics/Intelligence or Finance with a minimum of 18 graduate level hours in Accounting preferred.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred: College teaching experience; experience in online course delivery; experience in data analytics or business modeling is desirable. Candidates possessing a Certified Public Accountant license or Excel Certification are preferred.

Advertised Salary: $47,589 – $55,000/yr. for well-qualified individuals. Salary is determined based upon experience and education in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement as well as internal equity.
