Overview

Full-time, nine-month lecturer position based on a yearly renewable contract to teach undergraduate courses in one of the country’s premier graphic communications degree programs. Applicants must fit within our highly technical, hands-on oriented philosophy and will be expected to primarily teach undergraduate graphic communication courses, including intensive hands-on laboratory courses and classroom theory.

Applicants must have expertise in three or more of the following areas or ability to train in areas of need: Adobe design applications, color management, electronic prepress, digital reproduction, digital workflow, offset lithography, screen printing, flexography, gravure, inkjet, digital photography, lighting, videography, data visualization, web development, UX/UI, or finishing and fulfillment operations. Furthermore, they will assist with course and curriculum development, advise students, supervise and promote special projects, develop and maintain laboratories, assist in developing and maintaining industrial relationships, and participate actively in department, college and university activities.

Successful applicants to this position will be expected to teach undergraduate graphic communication courses, including intensive hands-on laboratory courses and classroom theory. They will also assist with course and curriculum development, advise students, develop and help maintain laboratories, develop and maintain industrial relationships, develop working relationships in other departments and colleges, assist with training if needed, and participate actively in department, college, and university activities.

Qualifications

  • Effective oral and written communication skills including use of creative lecture and laboratory teaching strategies and proficiency in instructional technology practices.
  • The ability to conduct academic advising with undergraduate level students, and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy laboratory environment is also required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with colleagues.
  • A minimum of a Masters degree along with teaching experience is highly preferred, however, applicants with exceptional industry and/or academic experience will also be considered. PhD’s will also be considered.
